The rate at which the Police, Navy, and the unions extort money from truckers at the ports is very alarming. Anyone who has passed the Tincan end of Oshodi Apapa Expressway at any time would agree with me that traffic holdup has turned the expressway into a mere car lot. To a layman, the holdup is as a result of too many trucks trying to gain access to the ports at the same time. But the truth is that the holdup is created by law enforcement agents at the ports entry point who extort money from truck drivers before they are allowed to go in.
